GLOUCESTER &mdash; Following yesterday's championship seine boat race at Pavilion Beach, Kaos coxswain Joe Novello jumped up on the bow of the boat and yelled, "We're back."<br>
Novello and Kaos were the cream of the crop in the seine boat world in the early part of the decade winning titles in 2000 and 2002. Recently, however, Kaos has been close, but hasn't been able to find a third title, falling on Sunday in five of the last six years. But yesterday the two time champions were truly back, as Kaos outmuscled two-time defending champion Seize the Moment, who was attempting to become the fourth crew in history to win three straight titles. Kaos captured a 1.5-boat win to earn the 2009 men's seine boat championship. Breakaway (Paul Giacalone's crew) finished in third.

The annual Fiesta "morning after" seine boat race, organized on a new format this year, went to the Coast Guard again Saturday in a disputed, near photo finish.<br>
But with the Fire Department arriving 23 minutes late for the start and the police claiming a false start by the Coast Guard's bear-backed, 10-man team, the result might not become official until after an arbitration hearing.

The Friday greasy pole walker had the best walk of the courtesy round, making it more than 3/4 of the way across the pole, and nearly grabbed the flag in the second round before he eventually won in the third round, crowning himself the 2009 Friday greasy pole champion. Favaloro, 22, made it to the end thanks to a flawless walk where he never lost his balance during the 40 foot march to victory.

GLOUCESTER&mdash; Coming into yesterday's women's senior seine boat championships, it looked to be a two boat barnburner between defending champion All Jacked Up and 2006 and 2007 champion Oar'Dacious.
This race, however, was over early. Oar'Dacious was aided by a strong start that gave them an early lead, and all they did was extend their lead throughout the mile long race to take home their third women's seine boat championship in four years by a five-boat margin. Inseine Oars finished in second place, 1/4 of a boat ahead of All Jacked Up.
