Letter: Tisei ads spotlighted disconnections

To the editor:

I’ve been reading that some feel entitlements led to Obama, Warren victories on Election Day.

Yet the vote, especially in the Merrimack Valley, was not that close by any means. The only real close national election contest was between John Tierney and Richard Tisei.

Tisei ads calling Congressman Tierney a liar over his in-laws’ gambling operations in the Caribbean were bogus. The $1 million-plus donations from groups like the Republican Young Guns and Karl Rove’s American Crossroads were the only reason it was tight.

The people I grew up with are all hard working folks. We all still live around this area for the most part and are getting close to retirement. We are not looking for handouts; we will take our Social Security to which we are entitled.

When you are the middle class, you vote your country’s best interest, which was in this instance, the Democratic ticket. The Republican Party does not know who we are, hence the election results.
