Letter: Constituents' views should count

To the editor:

According to the dictionary, the word “represent” is to serve as the agent and act as a spokesman.

According to the Times (Page 1, Monday, Sept. 9), Congressman Tierney said that calls from his constituents are “overwhelmingly against going in” (to Syria). Yet, he can’t make up his mind!

Forgive my naivety; but I thought he was supposed to represent us, the people who elected him.

Too many politicians ignore their constituents and simply vote for whatever benefits them or their party. Tierney seems to have joined that group.
