Letter: Grateful for role in chief search

To the editor:

I wish to publicly thank Councilor President Jackie Hardy for appointing me to the Police Chief Search Committee.

I took her vote of confidence in me with a badge of honor and pride. This historic event to recommend police chiefs to the mayor outside of civil service was a collaborative effort among BadgeQuest, the consulting services for the committee, Councilor Paul McGeary and those on the committee.

The city of Gloucester has its first police chief, Leonard Campenello, outside of civil service, but a police chief with many years of experience to his credit.

I salute all of you who have made a commitment to this process, and I thank Councilor Jackie Hardy for allowing me to be part of this.
