Letter: Lesch deserves praise for service

To the Editor:

On behalf of SeniorCare Inc., I would like to publicly congratulate Officer Roger Lesch of the Rockport Police Department, on the occasion of his retirement.

For many years, Roger’s contributions to the residents of his community, and the senior citizens of Cape Ann and the Commonwealth, have been exceptional.

Officer Lesch helped implement the “File of Life” program in Rockport and advocated its use across Massachusetts. He also received an award from the Alzheimer’s Association for his work with the Safe Return program; worked with the Rockport Council on Aging to bring many safety and self defense programs to Rockport seniors, including the D.E.C.I.D.E. program — Developing Elders’ Choices in Defensive Education — and he has presented many programs on home safety, travel safety and identity theft prevention.

Roger has been a board member of both the Rockport Council on Aging and Action, Inc., and has chaired the Rockport COA board.

Each year, SeniorCare presents the Rosemary Kerry Community Service Award to an individual who exemplifies the highest standard of community service, especially service to elders. Roger Lesch is one of our past recipients of this prestigious recognition.

We are so very glad that he plans to continue a part time role as elder affairs officer and wish him continued success and happiness in this new phase of his professional and personal life.
