To the editor:
I am very pleased that the Gloucester City Council last week unanimously approved the special permits for the Beauport Gloucester Hotel.
I am looking forward to the next steps in the process and ultimately building a hotel that the people of Gloucester can be proud of and welcoming everyone to enjoy the hospitality it will provide.
I am also very grateful to so many who have played a role in this process. The amount of support I have received from so many Gloucester residents has been amazing, and I truly could not have done this without each and every one of you.
From the kind words of encouragement given to me by guests at Cruiseport and Seaport Grille, to those who wrote letters to the editor in support, and of course those who attended the long meetings and spoke of their support of the hotel, I cannot express how much these things meant to me through what has been a long and sometimes challenging process. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
To the members of the City Council, Planning Board, and Conservation Commission, I want to express my sincere gratitude and admiration for your commitment to public service and the very in-depth and thorough work you put into every step in this process.
From the many meetings to the site visits to the public hearings, each of you logged countless hours reviewing all of the components of our proposal-and always with the question of “What is best for the people and the City of Gloucester” foremost on your minds. You are all to be commended for your dedication and commitment to this City, and I thank you for your tireless service.
As we move forward, I am eager to continue building relationships with neighbors in the Fort and throughout the city.
We all love Gloucester. It is our home. When we work together, we can do great things for our city and for each other.
Thank you again for all that you have done, and I promise to work hard to build a hotel that Gloucester and its people can be proud of.
