Letter: Pushing God out of our lives

To the editor:

Some people spend a lot of time and energy trying to get God out of our society.

At Christmastime, it was especially noticeable with Christmas trees now being called holiday trees, the lack of playing Christmas carols in the malls, and the lack of Nativity scenes in malls and other public places.

In spite of that, when a tragedy hits, such as that in Newtown, Conn., on Friday, Dec. 14, people flock to the churches. Many do so knowing that God, in the person of Jesus Christ, is real and will give comfort; others go sensing that he is real and they will find comfort there.

Christians all over the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, who came to this Earth, not only to save us from our sins, but to heal us.

The truth is Jesus is real, and he cannot be pushed out of our society.
