Letter: Re-elected congressman says thanks

To the editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the residents of the 6th District for their continued support and for entrusting me with another term representing you in Congress.

During the last few months, families, seniors, small business owners, and veterans across our area, stood by me and my wife Patrice, as we endured a hard fought campaign together.

Throughout this campaign, I have been impressed by the passion and energy put forth by the volunteers on my campaign, and by those supporting campaigns across our state and country. With every election, we are reminded how important political participation is to our democracy and freedom and I thank all who were involved.

Monumental challenges still face our country and citizens, including economic burdens that continue to leave too many without work and without the resources to care for their families. In the coming days and weeks, we must look to find compromise where we can and work across party lines for the betterment of our country.

I am proud and humbled to return to Congress and vow to continue my work with you, the residents of the 6th Congressional District, and with my colleagues, to strengthen our community. I remain committed to improving our economy, creating jobs, supporting our middle-class, protecting Medicare, and ensuring we all have access to quality education and health care.

I want to remind everyone that my door is always open to the citizens of the 6th District. As I have done for the last 16 years, I will continue to serve every one of my constituents and look forward to hearing from you. Please call my office at 978-531-1669, if we can be of any assistance.

I thank you again for your support and for giving me the opportunity to continue to build off the great work we have done together.

U.S. REP. JOHN TIERNEY

Salem

Congressman,

6th Massachusetts District
