Letter: Shouldn't Christmas be on the calendar?

To the editor:

My son attends preschool in Salem, and recently I received the school calendar for the month of December.

While looking it over, I noticed that they are having a Hanukkah celebration and a Ramadan/Kwanzaa celebration. What happened to the Christmas celebration?

When I was younger, we would have a Christmas party in our classrooms and a night where all the parents would come and watch their children sing Christmas songs. Now our children aren’t allowed to have any of that, which is really sad.

I strongly believe that if a community can allow the schools to celebrate other religious holidays, then Christmas should be at the top of that list.
