Letter: One word shouldn't cloud candidates' focus

To the editor:

Regarding the Chamber of Commerce mayoral debate, what is wrong with everyone today?

The word “retarded” is a perfectly good word as long as it is not used to describe a person in a hurtful way. (the Times, Page 1, Wednesday, Oct. 9). In defense of Mr. Bell, he was using the word to describe a process — not a person.

With all the problems facing the city, let’s keep our focus on the big picture: some financial, relief for Gloucester taxpayers.
