Letter: Womens’ rights and wrongs

To the editor,

A symbol of the abortion rights movement has been a coat hanger, representing the countless deaths and injuries of women who have had to subject themselves to the dangers of illegal abortions.

So why have pro-choice advocates allowed themselves to be co-opted into accepting and repeating, hence unwittingly re-enforcing, the anti-abortion rights groups’ self-proclaimed title: “pro-life?”

Does that not make opposition to them “pro death?”

Where is the equivalency? Have the anti groups ever called you “pro-choice?”

Women should never accept a double standard, verbal or otherwise, especially when it involves matters of life and death.
