Letter: Gomez deserves our trust as U.S. senator

To the editor:

I am writing in support of Gabriel Gomez for U.S. Senate, the only candidate we can trust.

Given the scandals in Washington, with a new one every day (today’s involving the National Transportation Safety Board) I wish to invest, as a senior, my future, my children’s and grandchildren’s future with the only candidate who has a proven record of success and trustworthiness.

As a private equity investor — not the stock broker or banker portrayed by the opposition — Gomez has successfully secured the retirement and future of millions of Americans through the prudent investment of his fund. He could be doing the same for all of us in Washington.

He has supported the dream and heritage of America not only as a Navy SEAL but the owner of a historic home.

He was, of course, castigated as a tax cheat when he used the tax credit on his taxes. The opposition took the mortgage deduction, but blasted a credit instituted to encourage the purchase and maintenance of historic properties. Historic properties, as I’m sure many know, are older, requiring much repair and maintenance with original materials as much as possible and local review from the permit granting authority, e.g. the Rockport Historic District Commission.

Last but not least, Gabriel Gomez was a Navy SEAL. He has already served his country with distinction.

Too bad the opposition tired to smear that with an ad showing Gabriel with bin Laden; but then, the opposition’s whole campaign has been about smear and negativity.

I’m pleased Gomez stayed positive, honest and honorable. I hope you will consider him for your vote next Tuesday. I’m voting Gomez.
