Letter: Cyclocross event deserves city support

Gloucester Daily Times

---- — To the editor:

My family and I have been both attending and participating at the Gloucester cyclocross race for 11 years.

I went to my first when I was merely 4 years old, and didn’t know how to ride a bike myself. Since then, I’ve had many fond memories associated with the Gran Prix of Gloucester.

We hosted riders from different parts of the country, and met people from different parts of the world. I have also been an avid spectator and racer in the event, and to this day enjoy the wonderful community feeling of the whole thing.

Mingling with professional riders, commentators, spectators and everyone in between, I can honestly say this bicycle race was a large part of my growing up, and it would be a shame if it were halted.

I kindly ask you to consider allowing this magnificent event to stay in Gloucester.

MILES BRYAN, age 14
