Letter: Monitoring the safety of power supply

Gloucester Daily Times

---- — To the editor:

Epidemiologist Sam Milham is the author of “Dirty Electricity.”

He discovered that transients are introduced into the power supply by interruptions to the 60Hz cycle by solar and wind inverters, compact fluorescent bulbs, and transformers. These “harmonics” are universal carcinogens. He also offers a simple strategy to test for transients: tuning into an AM station and listening for interference.

In Lanesville, between Folly Cove and the Flat Rocks Gallery, there is tremendous RF interference.

Is the integrity of the 60Hz power supply and the wind turbines being monitored by an independent testing organization? Who is responsible for investigating what is causing the interference, and are ambient radio-frequency levels being monitored?

The EMR Policy Institute is currently investigating the FCC for failure to monitor RF, and has found levels at more than 600 times the legal limit.
