Gloucester Daily Times
---- — To the editor:
On Monday, April 8, the Gloucester School Committee is holding a governance meeting to discuss and possibly approve three overarching goals for fiscal 2014.
These are in addition to Superintendent Safier’s goals for fiscal 2014 which are aligned with the new Massachusetts superintendents’ performance evaluation process.
Our committee is seeking public input on these draft school committee overarching goals. Please log onto www.gloucesterschools.com and on the right side of our homepage, type in your feedback and suggestions on or before April 7, 2013.
These FY2014 draft goals are as follows:
The Gloucester Public School District will seek to cultivate a greater understanding and appreciation among city leaders and the community, at-large, for the importance of education and the requisite funding needed for 21st century programs and learning environments.
The Gloucester Public School District will engage parents, guardians, and the community to be involved and supportive of our children’s education.
The Gloucester Public School District strives to maximize each and every child’s potential by teaching the whole child (academic, social/emotional, aesthetic, and civic) and by preparing students for college and career readiness.
While you are visiting our home page, we encourage you to read up on some of our district’s great initiatives in teaching and learning. Our proposed fiscal 2014 budget is also posted on the home page.
Finally, take the time to watch some of the recent Cape Ann TV interviews, titled, “Superintendent’s Corner.“ This link is on the left side of the home page.
Thanks in advance for providing us feedback on our school committee’s overarching goals for fiscal 2014 and for your continued support of the Gloucester Public Schools.
