Letter: American flag deserves its own pole

To the editor:

Much has been written in the last week about the flag that was flown in June and over the July 4 holiday at Grant Circle on the same flagpole as the American flag.

In my opinion, the American flag is very sacred. Many men and women have sacrificed their lives or suffered life changing injuries over many generations defending our flag.

POWs and MIAs have also payed the ultimate price for this country. For that reason, their flags have earned the right to fly along with the American flag.

If our city wants to fly a flag that has a special meaning, I say do it proudly!

But, please, fly it on a separate flagpole. The U.S. flag deserves to fly alone on its own flagpole.
