To the editor:
Not a day goes by that I don’t pick up the Gloucester Daily Times to find yet another negative letter or story regarding the Gloucester Community Arts Charter School.
Seeing these negative letters day after day is so unfair and hurtful to the children attending the charter school. These children take pride in their school as any child does. If people were to take the time to visit and see the charter school they would see that this school has a lot to offer children.
This school has a beautiful art and music room, it’s spacious and colorful and emits an overall happy feeling.
The teachers are very qualified; my son’s teacher holds a Master’s degree in early childhood education and a Master’s in psychology as well.
I would bet that, if we were to ask any of these children attending the charter school, they would tell you they love it. Isn’t this what it is all about — having fun while at the same time getting an education? These are the voices we should listen to.
It is time for the people of Gloucester to give the charter school a chance to thrive. Let’s take a minute and think what is in the best interest for the children and stop the political war against the charter school.
Do you really think Gloucester is the only city that can not sustain a charter school, when many are thriving everywhere? For years people tried to prevent the Gloucester Crossing development and today there is not a parking spot to be had.
We need to give it a chance.
