Letter: Voters backed med pot use; get on with it

To the editor:

I’m writing about the vote and the debate over medical marijuana — and I find it “much ado over nothing.”

Back in the real world, if you’re out and about, say, in the mall, or at a park, or on a city sidewalk, someone in close proximity to you will probably be in possession of pot anyway, so what’s the big deal? It’s analogous to the old saw about guns – only in this case, “if possession of pot is a crime, only criminals will have pot.”

Let’s get on with it! Why not put medicinal marijuana dispensaries in “drug stores”? The system and security are already set up. How difficult is that? You go to the doctor, if he deems it clinically appropriate, he writes you a prescription, you schlep on down to the nearest CVS or Walgreens, present it to the person in the white coat behind the glass security partition, wait way too long, shuffle around the store to kill time, buy something you really don’t need, or even want, finally pick up your order, head on out to the car, take the parking ticket out from under the windshield wiper — and get on with the rest of the day.

The meter maid is the only real threat to society here.
