Letter: Thanks for remembering Pearl Harbor

To the editor:

I’m writing just to thank you for your short remembrance of Pearl Harbor Day (Editorial, the Times, Friday, Dec. 7).

I wonder how many readers are aware that there is also an annual memorial service, on the Battleship USS Arizona Memorial.

As I recall, a flag still flies daily on the Arizona’s flagstaff; and Battleship USS Arizona is still in active service, and has been since it sank in 1941. The reason it’s still in service is because its crew members are still on board — in their watery grave.

Just a little trivia to go with my thank you for remembering: “The Day that Will Live in Infamy.” Thanks.
