Letter: Candidates’ actions speak to character

To the editor:

Of late I’ve heard many say the whole “Indian thing” with Elizabeth Warren is a distraction, so let’s get back to the serious matters.

Of course, all those voices reside on the left side of the tracks. And though I agree somewhat, I also believe there is a thing called “character” and it’s sorely missing in many of our elected officials.

Don’t misunderstand; I don’t want to elect a saint. I want someone who’s been through it like us. But when you have someone “checking the box,” as they say, to benefit herself falsely — it speaks to character.

When you have someone claiming to be for the little guy that won’t pony up to the fact she’s fought against them tooth and nail, representing corporate giants — it again speaks to character.

When you say you’ll fight for the little guy and then engage in what can only be called property flipping, taking advantage of the little guy in distress to make a buck — it speaks to character.

Now, Scott makes me rip my hair out sometimes; I never know which way he’ll vote — and yet that, too, speaks to character.

After the first debate, I was convinced, if she could, Elizabeth would prostrate herself at the altar of our president in service to the liberal agenda. You can never say that about Scott. He’s not a rubber stamp for anyone! When you ask him why he voted one way or the other, his thoughtful responses speak volumes. It speaks to integrity; it speaks to character and conviction. All qualities Scott Brown brings to the people’s seat. This is something easy to respect. Easy to vote for, and so should you!
