Letter: Fiesta Mass homily and issues of denial

To the editor:

I was struck by my former co-pastor’s comment, as I understand it, at the Fiesta’s Mass’s homily.

He apparently said that “lapsed Catholics” are in the original St. Peter’s denial mode.

With respect to Fr. Kiley, whom I know to be a fine, dedicated and completely devoted priest, there is another way of looking at some of those ex-Roman Catholics, which includes me.

I don’t know about the present Pope, but other popes were, I feel, in another attribute of the original St. Peter — the one of unnecessarily limiting God’s grace and mercy.

As James Joyce has said, “Catholic means ‘here comes everybody.’”
