Letter: Beware any 'non-war' military action

To the editor:

In his recent letter (the Times, Friday, Sept. 6), Dr. Ahlin presents an excellent point; term limits for Congress is an idea whose time has come.

However, genocide is still genocide, no matter the weapons used. Had FDR bombed the railways into the death camps, perhaps the Holocaust may not have taken place.

The problem in Syria is who’s going to watch those chemical weapons stores.

The president wants approval for a limited action: I wonder if that limited action will turn out like Harry S. Truman’s police action in Korea. Ah yes, the war that wasn’t called a war — and today, there are still thousands of U.S. military, on active duty there.

Politicians are avoiding calling any action in Syria — war, limited action, police action, both non-war events, Korea, thousands dead.

Syria, thousands of U.S. troops will be needed to guard those chemical weapons and prevent them from falling into terrorist’s hands. How many of our military will die in that non-war limited action.

Cruise missiles cannot do that.
