Letter: Lynch is 'the real deal' in Senate race

To the editor:

As a dyed-in-the-wool conservative, it isn’t often I find a candidate that wears the label Democrat that I am truly excited about, but Congressman Stephen Lynch is that guy.

Lynch is a different kind of leader, one who is straight-forward, sincere, and honest. He has not only talked the talk but walked the walk of the “every man” by being an iron worker for 18 years while going to college at night, first to earn his bachelor’s degree in construction management from Wentworth Institute of Technology, then his law degree from Boston College.

He knows what middle-class families go through every single day just to juggle school, home, work, finances, and bills because he’s done it. Those strong working class values will help him champion policies that will help the middle class to not only survive, but prosper.

In his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, Lynch has proven himself to be a self-described “people guy” who will put aside differences and cross the aisle if it means getting the best result for the people of Massachusetts. He can speak to the issues based on his own personal experiences and has a strong record of fighting for jobs and economic development and giving voice to those who don’t have one. He is a true servant of the people.

Here in Gloucester, he has listened to and championed our local fishermen and will work hard to try to right the wrongs that have been forced upon our fleet by an out-of-control government agency. His opponent quite frankly doesn’t seem to care.

Lynch has an outstanding record of responding to constituent needs and helping them navigate through the red tape of government agencies. Whether it’s an issue with a missing Social Security check or assistance with housing, Lynch’s office has earned the reputation as the place to go when help is needed. His dedication has also helped prevent three Veterans Administration hospitals in his Congressional district from closing.
