Letter: Response to column rooted in hyprocisy

To the editor:

Once there was a city named Gloucester.

In that city was a group of people who were professional actors. And they all played the same role in a play entitled Hypocrisy 101.

The role they played was that of “victim,” pretending, in every act and every scene of the production, to be the victims of the intolerance of other Gloucesterites.

All of their lines revolved, primarily, around three words – bigotry, hate, and intolerance. And everywhere they went, when they encountered a character that disagreed with them and their one-dimensional existence, they hid behind their irrational rhetoric and avoided honest discourse.

Hypocrisy 101 was a play about human tragedy — a portrayal of how a few self-centered characters in the fishing village of Gloucester sought to pervert the morals and faith of everyone else by questioning their civility, all the while, robbing everyone of their right to speak their mind.
