Gloucester Daily Times
---- — To the editor:
I must admit that I do not know very much about NOAA — primarily, just from what I read on the pages of the Times.
But after reading the front page story on Mr. Orlando and his doing everything to follow the rules and regulations in order to keep his livelihood (the Times, Wednesday, July 31), and the letter by Ms. Nelson, on NOAA’s regional ocean planning board (Letters, the Times, also Wednesday, July 31), I got the sickening feeling that these two organizations are deeply rooted with environmental organizations.
If that is so, then is it possible that this NOAA and ocean planning boondoggle is just the Obama administration’s way of giving back to its supporters — as it has done with unions and the IRS cherry picking who to examine for C 301-4 status?
It may very well be another one of what the president labels “phony scandals.” Folks, I cannot recall one error this Congress and executive branch has made for which the president has taken responsibility.
So much for transparency. Perhaps in the 2014 and 2016 election cycles, we the people will rid ourselves of a do nothing government and elect officials that will govern with an independent view of the needs of “we the people.”
I’d run for Congress myself, but, I know so little about politics, as such. I do know one person can do little, but little is a start.
