Letter: Speak up regarding uses of Stage Fort

To the editor:

I am writing in reply to a previous letter by John and Susannah Wolfe regarding Stage Fort Park (”Stage Fort is a park, not a recreation center,” the Times. Oct. 26).

I was at the City Council committee meeting several weeks ago (maybe months?) when you registered your complaint about the noise at Stage Fort. My thoughts then included the reasonable nature of your request and how impressed I was by your preparation and clarity for solving the problem.

I also thought that the simple request of transferring responsibility for noise control over to the Police Department made sense (considering the need for enforcement over the weekend was met with “that person doesn’t work on the weekends”).

Don’t lose faith in the power of your voice....surely others agree with your concern. I hope that those in control of such decisions will answer your call for action, it certainly deserves attention before another season of events at Stage Fort Park is upon us.
