Letter: We've faced our enemy, and it's us

To the editor:

Recently a co-worker and her customer were talking about the election and how we could have changed the outcome.

Hello, it’s over. The people and country have spoken, so pick up your big girl and big boy pants and move on.

Why are we still fixated on changing the election when we should be trying to change ourselves?

I have been walking my dog Lola, on the same two-mile route every morning for nine years, and not one person ever stops to let us cross the street. It doesn’t matter if it is 90 degrees or freezing rain or snow, it’s not going to happen.

What is wrong with this country has more to do with ourselves than the officials we are all pointing our fingers at.

There is little respect or kindness left in this world and, quite frankly, I don’t know when this all happened. Maybe we should all take a look in our own backyard before laying blame elsewhere.

And, please, if you see a 60-something-year-old walking her dog at 6 a.m., let her cross the street. It is really cold out there!
