Letter: Be sure to register to vote

To the editor:

I am writing to remind all that new voters must register by Wednesday, Oct. 17, in order to vote in the Nov. 6 election.

City and town clerks’ offices will be open until 8 p.m. that day to register voters. Any U.S. citizen who will be 18 on or before Nov. 6, 2012 is eligible — but if you aren’t registered, you can’t vote!

If you aren’t sure whether you’re registered or not, call your town or city clerk’s office to check: Rockport: 978-546-6894; Essex: 978-768-7111; Gloucester: 978-281-9720; Manchester: 978-526-2040.

Don’t miss this exciting and crucial election. Your vote makes a difference!
