Letter:

To the editor:

I am writing to announce my write-in candidacy for one of the two open seats on the Rockport Planning Board.

I feel my most valuable contribution would be to the Planning Board. I served on the Planning Board in Wellesley for a number of years and was their representative on the Design Review Board for over two decades. The DRB consists of a number of design professionals and advises the Planning Board, the Zoning Board of Appeals and the building inspector about proposed commercial and residential developments and signage.

I represented my constituents’ views as an elected Town Meeting member for over 30 years, and as an appointed member of a number of town study committees. I have an engineering degree and an MBA, have worked in the construction, energy development and design industries and as a management consultant.

I feel I could make a significant contribution to Rockport’s Planning Board and the planning process in this town we love.

EDWARD S. HAND, Jr.
