Letter: 'The Gronk' never should have played

To the editor:

Re: The loss of the Patriots’ Rob Gronkowski, aka “The Gronk,” as a result of an injury suffered in the playoff game against the Houston Texans last Sunday.

He should never have played to begin with. Apparently, his previous injuries were far greater than the team physician and Coach Belichick led us to believe.

Mr. Gronkowski was in severe pain after he was tackled. He should have been kept inactive at best until the Baltimore Ravens game, but used sporadically. Rob Gronkowski should really have been saved for the Super Bowl.

Coach Belichick should know better than to jeopardize a superstar’s career and the team’s future by playing him too soon after an injury.
