Rocky Neck will be bustling this evening with its final Nights on the Neck this summer season, focusing on the thriving artist colony and its shops, galleries and restaurants.
The entertainment begins today at 5 p.m. at the park, which is across from a public parking lot, featuring the Adventure Chantey Singers.
Each individual or group is featured for 45 minutes at a variety of locations during Nights on the Neck.
The entertainment continues at 5:30 p.m. at the Elynn Kröger Gallery at 15 Rocky Neck Ave., featuring the Tree House Charlatans, while at 6 p.m., author JoeAnn Hart will be at the Goetemann Gallery at 37 Rocky Neck Ave.
The rest of the lineup is as follows: 6:45 p.m — Imagine Gallery at 43 Rocky Neck, features Liz Frame & the Kickers; 7:15 p.m. — Rocky Neck Gallery at 53 Rocky Neck features Sylvan Roots; 7:45 — Madfish Wharf, at 77 Rocky Neck, features the Julie Dukas Jazz Trio and, at 8:45 p.m., The Center at 6 Wonson St. features Clara Kebabian.
New Group Show
The Rocky Neck Art Colony presents a new group show titled “Community and Identity,” featuring the work of 12 artists on view at the Cultural Center at Rocky Neck at 6 Wonson St. in Gloucester. The show runs from tonight through Oct. 2, with a free public opening reception on Saturday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The artists on exhibit are: Coco Berkman, Danny Diamond, Leon Doucette, Corrine Grant, Joy Halsted, Pamela Ellis Hawkes, Sean Hurley, IlaSahai Prouty, Jon Sarkin, Joe Swayze, Elizabeth Woodward and Rocky Delforge.
“Come view art and discuss with one another the concepts and realities of community and identity,” said Delforge, who curated the show.
Delforge invites everyone to come join the discussion and even write a response on the message board at the show.
Moodscapes show
Khan Studio and the GMG Gallery at 77 Rocky Neck Ave. is holding a new show with works by Manchester-by-the-Sea artist Marion Hall.
The show is titled “Moodscapes,” an exhibit of watercolor paintings. That show runs through Sept. 13.
