Compaq Big Band to perform free concert Wednesday

The jazz sounds of the Compaq Big Band will float over Stage Fort Park when the internationally acclaimed 20–piece big band performs a free concert Wednesday.

Originally scheduled for Sunday, July 15, the show was postponed due to weather and has been rescheduled for Wednesday, July 18, at 7 p.m. Concertgoers are urged to bring picnic dinners, lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the concert at the Antonio Gentile Bandstand at the park in comfort. The remainder of the regularly scheduled concerts, all at 7 p.m. at the bandstand, is John Penny Band on Sunday, July 22; the rhythm and blues rock of Overdrive on Sunday, July 29; local favorites, the acoustic bluegrass masters, Old Cold Tater with special guest Allen Estes on Sunday, Aug. 5; Good Old Salty Jazz Band in a tandem concert with Honky Tonk Women on Sunday, Aug. 12; the Cape Ann Community Band on Sunday, Aug. 19; and the Cape Ann Big Band closes the Summer Concert Series on Sunday, Aug. 26.
