An evening of simple style

Chamber hosts fashion show to benefit woman's business scholarship

You could call it a fashionable evening.

The Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce hosted a show Wednesday night featuring local women modeling the latest fashions in clothing, shoes, jewelry and beauty products as part of this month’s “Ladies Night Out.”

The “Style Made Simple” show, held at the Castle Manor Inn at 141 Essex Ave., was organized by Linda Clayton, owner of the fashion consulting business, Style for U, and a Realtor for ReMax Advantage, both based in Gloucester.

Local businesses were on hand, selling clothing, jewelry, fragrance and cosmetics.

A portion of the evening’s proceeds benefit the Carolyn O’Connor Scholarship, named for the first chairman of the chamber’s businesswomen’s group. It is awarded to a Cape Ann woman with a high school or GED degree, who is looking to go to school or receive training before entering into the business world.
