Gloucester, state and even federal officials — from Mayor Carolyn Kirk to Congressman John Tierney — all turned out Wednesday to pay celebrate the work of the Gloucester Family Health Center as part of National Community Health Week.
The Family Health Center, opened in October 2008 at 302 Washington St., adjacent to Addison Gilbert Hospital, has grown since its debut, serving as a primary care provider and offering a wide range of services, from family and internal medicine to emergency dental care to behavioral health services and a midwifery program.
The center, which also boasts employees fluent in Spanish, Italian and Portuguese as well as English, is part of the North Shore County Health Network and of a federally-certified network of centers that serve some 18 million people nationwide.
