Market season

Locally grown herbs, vegetables, meat for sale

It’s farmers market season, and Cape Ann residents can shop three for the bounty of local fields.

The biggest is the Cape Ann Farmers Market, held at Stage Fort Park in Gloucester on Thursdays from 3 to 6:30 p.m.

On Saturday, there is the smaller Summer Farmers Market in Rockport and the Essex Farmers Market on Route 133 near the Gloucester line.

The Essex market is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays through Oct. 22 in the parking lot of the Ebb & Flow Interiors shop, at 166 Eastern Ave. (Route 133). It features Essex-grown produce, eggs and flowers.

The open-air Rockport market, organized by the group Rockport Festivals, specializes in locally raised fruits, vegetables, eggs, meats and honey, as well as baked goods. The market will take place every Saturday, rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. between now and Sept. 7, at Harvey Square, 4 High St.

All the markets feature locally made food products, and locally grown vegetables and beef.
