It's time for Cape Ann Animal Aid's annual Winter Bash.
The local animal aid group will host its ninth annual Winter Bash Saturday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Cruiseport Gloucester.
The event will include a benefit silent auction as well as a live auction, with hors d'oeuvres catered by Vinwood Catering, a cash bar, music, dancing and raffle.
Tickets are priced at $50 each or at $475 for a table of 10, with all proceeds benefit the Cape Ann Animal Aid.

Valentines party
The Minglewood Tavern at Latitude 43 will host a special 80s themed Valentines Day Open Heart Rock Show on Saturday.
The evening will feature live 80s music by the eight-piece cover band, SAFETY, with showtime set for 9 p.m.
Organized in the summer of 2008 by Dan King of Gloucester, SAFETY includes lead singers Ann Marie, Kascia Murray, Guy Fiero and Brian King performing renditions of everything from the Bangles to the Pretenders, Cindi Lauper to David Bowie, Talking Heads to Soul II Soul.
SAFETY also features Tony Goddess on guitar and keyboards, Dan King on bass, and Dennis Monagle on drums and vocals.
Gospel trio performs
The Az One trio will sing in a special 10 a.m. Sunday service this week at the Gloucester Unitarian-Universalist Church in a musical celebration of Black History month.
Az One Trio celebrates Black History Month with vocalists Gordon Michaels, Darlene Wynn and James Early. All are welcome.
The service is held in the grand 1806 Universalist Meeting House, Gloucester's oldest standing church, which has fine acoustics and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Art of Love reception
Central Street Gallery is hosting "Art For The Heart" featuring fine chocolates, chilled Prosecco and red hot art with a public reception on Saturday, Feb. 11 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The gallery is at 11 Central St. in Manchester. All reception-night purchases will receive a discount.
A tour of Stellwagen Bank
The public is invited to join NOAA maritime archaeologists, Deborah Marx and Matthew Lawrence, for a virtual tour of the Stellwagen Bank National Maritime Sanctuary's historic shipwrecks in a program on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Maritime Gloucester at 23 Harbor Loop in Gloucester.
They will present the 45-minute Science Channel's Viewers Choice Award winning documentary, "The Wreck of the Steamship Portland."
This event is open to the public. Space is limited, reservations are required, ad those interested should RSVP with payment by Friday, Feb. 17.
The cost for Essex Heritage and Maritime Gloucester members is $5; for non-members, it's $10.

Opera in HD in Rockport
Wagner's "Gotterdammerung" — part of the Ring cycle — will be shown on Feb. 11 at the Shalin Liu Performance Center at 37 Main St. in Rockport as part of the Metropolitan Opera HD series.

Sarah Rabdau at Giuseppes
Sarah Rabdau will be the special guest at next Wednesday's Mermaid Sessions at Giuseppes on Feb. 15.
The singer, songwriter, and pianist has a loyal following in Boston and now organizers bring her to Cape Ann. Last year, Rabdau was commissioned to write music for the Boston stage production of Mary Jett Parsley's, "The Monster Tales."
The Mermaid Sessions, hosted by Brian King, is an eclectic open-mic held every Wednesday from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at Giuseppes at 2 Main St. in Gloucester.
Musicians, writers, and performers are invited to share their work in the blue spotlight for 10 minutes. Performers are welcome to use the house piano. Every week includes a 30-minute set from featured musical guest.
Open house at Wenniger gallery
The Wenniger Cottage Gallery & Print Studio at 70 Holly St. in Gloucester will hold a "Get Acquainted Weekend" at their new gallery on Feb. 10, Feb. 11 and Feb. 12 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. featuring new and original prints.

Drama scholarship
The Cape Ann Shakespeare Troupe will award a $500 scholarship.
There are only two requirements to apply: That the applicant is a student who graduates from a Cape Ann high school, and who also plans to continue in the study of the performing arts.
