Manchester Police/Fire: Water break closes University Lane

Manchester Police/Fire

MANCHESTER — A leak in the town’s water system forced the shutdown of University Lane for part of the day Tuesday.

According to police, a sergeant noticed water running down University Lane at 7 p.m. on Monday, and officers notified the Department of Public Works.

Steve Kenney, the town’s DPW director, said the minor service leak was first reported Sunday.

University Lane remained closed Tuesday for about half the day, police said.

Police responded to reports of a car alarm shortly after 1 p.m. on Hickory Hill. Police spoke with the owner, who said he was trying to fix it.
