The Porches of Annisquam tour, a biennial summer tradition, will be held Friday, Aug. 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the seaside village.
Eight homes will welcome visitors to enjoy views over the cove, out toward the lighthouse or across sweeping lawns and granite walls. A tour guide will be at each porch to provide historic information and anecdotes. The Annisquam Village Players will provide a sunset serenade, and the evening concludes at a waterfront home where wine and cheese will be available.
Tickets are $25 and are available at The Annisquam Exchange at 38 Leonard St. in the heart of the village. The telephone is 978-281-0358 or visit annisquamexchange.com. This event is always a sell-out. Proceeds benefit the productions of the Annisquam Village Players.
Live storytellingwith ‘Fish Tales’
Gloucester Writers Center’s live storytelling event, “Fish Tales,” makes its summer return tonight, Aug. 1, at 7:30 at the center at 126 E. Main St. The evening’s theme is “local.” This event is based on NPR’s popular The Moth Radio Hour. Gloucester’s “Fish Tales’ provides an opportunity for people to stand up before a live audience and share a true story. The guidelines are the story must be five minutes and must be told, not read. The stories may be about growing up here, life events, people met, friendships, special locations, etc.
