---- — ESSEX — They’re things you wouldn’t think would mix — tea and Legos — but it’s proving a successful recipe for relaxation when mixing adults and children together.

This Wednesday, during school vacation week on Cape Ann, the Essex Ship Building Museum offered its first “Legos and Tea” program in its Orientation Center at 66 Main St.

Every Wednesday through March 27, from 3 to 5 p.m., the museum is inviting adults to take a break and relax with a cup of tea or coffee and watch their children build with Legos, draw, color, create, and just plain play with games.

A museum spokesman said this Wednesday’s event was so popular, with a bigger turnout than expected, that the program may be extended past March 27.

The museum is closed for the winter, but open for tours and special events, of which this is one. It will hold a special boat building class for adolescents in April during spring break; details on the class are available by emailing or calling 978-768-6441.

The “Tea and Legos” program is free, but may canceled for extremely bad weather. For more information, contact the museum at 978-768-6441 or 978-768-7541 during program hours.
