Dan DeLouise, of DeLouise Studio 53, is holding a public opening reception Friday at the gallery at 53 Main St., located in the cultural district of downtown Rockport.
The event takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., when visitors can meet the artists and tour the gallery. The gallery exhibits a variety of art, including sculpture, watercolor, oils, photography and works in precious metals.
DeLouise is one of the artists, along with Janis Anderson, a photographer; William E. Duke, a painter; Bruce Feldman, who creates abstract driftwood sculpture; and Nick and Hillary Rezendes, who work in precious metals.
DeLouise, who trained as an illustrator, now focuses on painting in oils. His illustrations have been exhibited at the New York Society of Illustrators and he has been published as a contributing artist in issues of Communication Arts magazine.
“Ever since moving to Cape Ann and discovering its natural beauty and its residents’ love for the arts, I’ve dreamed of opening a gallery here,” he said. “The dream has come true and I’m very excited to have several talented artists on board. And I’m thrilled how well each artist’s work complements the others.”
