Art talk and , concert are on tap for tonight

Those looking for something fun to do tonight, July 18, have at least two choices.

The Harbor Loop free outdoor concert features Honky Tonk Women and ToneCat. The show start at 6:30 tonight at Fitz Henry Lane Park off Harbor Loop in Gloucester.

A panel discussion on the arts and the environment takes place tonight at 7:30 at the Cultural Center at Rocky Neck at 6 Wonson St. in Gloucester in conjunction with the Gloucester Writers Center. Participants include novelist JoeAnn Hart, artist and environmental activist Karen Ristuben, photographer David Arnold, and artist and educator Kyle Browne, with Mary John Boylan as panel moderator. This event is free to the public.

Art show opening

The Rockport Art Association invites the public to a reception and awards ceremony celebrating its third summer show of paintings, graphics, sculpture and photography, on Friday, July 19, from 6 to 8 p.m.

‘East Goes West’

“East Goes West” features eight Rocky Neck artists who are exhibiting 44 pieces of work at West Gloucester’s Castle Manor Inn at 141 Essex Ave. in Gloucester. There is an opening reception with the artists on Tuesday, July 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. The show features work by Joey Ciaramitaro, Elynn Kroger, Caroline Kwas, E.J. Lefavour, Brenda Malloy, Adriana Mederos, Jen Nicol, and Bob Viau. For more information, call 978-515-7386.

‘Harmonic Icons’

Flatrocks Gallery, which spotlights Cape Ann’s creative heritage, this month presents three prominent artists in a new show titled “Harmonic Icons.” There is a free public opening reception on Saturday, July 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. The show features the work of Albert Alcalay, Ruth Mordecai, and Juni Van Dyke. Alcalay is an inspirational teacher at Harvard. Mordecai directs the Goetemann Artist in Residency program on Rocky Neck. Van Dyke is the art director at the Rose Baker Senior Center in Gloucester. The gallery is at 77 Langsford St. in Gloucester.
