This evening’s free Harbor Loop Concert, set for 6:30 p.m., brings Boston’s 2011 International Music Award Winner, Mamadou Diop to the stage.
Hailing from Senegal in West Africa, Mamadou performs African poly-rhythms and high energy blends of reggae. The Jake Pardee Band opens and includes some local musicians who perform blues-themed music, with special guest vocalist and songwriter Paula Karahalis of Gloucester. Jake Pardee of Rockport and Boston is on lead guitar/vocals. with Hugh Gilmore of Boston on bass, Sam Ward of Ipswich on drums, and Scott Noring of Rockport on percussions, along with other special guests.
Estes, Amero on the Lannon
Allen Estes and Fly Amero will perform on a sunset music sail on the Schooner Thomas E. Lannon tonight from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. during a sail around Gloucester harbor.

The Hammond Castle Renaissance Festival takes place Saturday and Sunday.
The Abbadia Mare Renaissance event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with knights in shining armor battling it out, magic shows, belly dancing, music and storytelling as well as a human chess match each day.
Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for children ages 5 to 12, and children ages 4 and under are free. There is a free bus shuttle from the parking lot at Stage Fort Park.

The Rockport Legion Band continues its 80th season of free summer concerts at the Back Beach Bandstand along the water on Sunday at 7 p.m. Children are welcome, and visitors can bring chairs or sit on the grass, and popcorn and cold drinks are available. Jason Howard conducts.
