Shakespeare soon
The Cape Ann Shakespeare Troupe is presenting the premier of the "new" 400-year-old comedy "Closets" by Nat Segaloff and inspired by Ben Jonson's 1606 satirical comedy "Volpone" in a production to run March 8 to 18 at the Gloucester Stage Company's Gorton's Theatre.
"Closets" is set in the present day gay community of West Hollywood, with the protagonist, Julian, feigning impending death. But unlike Volpone (the fox), he does so not to get expensive gifts from his friends with the promise to be named sole heir, but to test their loyalty.
"Closets" directed by Joseph Stiliano will be performed March 8, 9, 10, 16 and 17 at 8 p.m., March 11 and 18 at 3 p.m.
Tickets are priced at $15 for general admission; $10 for students and $5 for those 18 and under, and will be available at the door or by reservation at cast2008@prodigy.net.
