Do-sa-do

Schoolchildren learn folk dances

At East Gloucester Elementary School, the pupils have been studying traditional folk dances and movement pieces all year.

Recently, they spent an evening showing each other, parents and friends what they learned. Then, they invited the audience members to join them promenading and do-sa-doing.

The event was emceed by music teacher Sarah Doran, and the music was performed by Liz Simmons and Flynn Cohen, parents of fifth-graders, with fellow Cape Ann musician Emerald Rae.
