---- — ROCKPORT — Musicians of the Rockport High School senior class will present their final concert in which they will perform for the last time as high schoolers on the Shalin Liu stage. The concert on Tuesday, May 21, at 7 p.m. is free to the public.

The performance will include jazz and chamber music ensembles, vocal and instrumental solos, a theatrical reading, tap-dance routines, and more.

The performing seniors are Shayne Beauvais, Jeff Cloak, Sam Cunningham, Tyler Hurst, Isabella Mackinnon, Katherine Mackinnon, Jon Perry, Evan Razdan, Jenny Sonia, Ali Steer, Rachel Sternlicht, Renee Waller, Freddy Widmer, and Corey Wrinn.

Nathan Cohen, the orchestra director, encourages community members to attend.

“Last year’s senior showcase was probably my favorite concert of the year and this year will showcase more of our talent,” he said. “The Rockport High School seniors and faculty hope that the public will come to support the seniors and partake in a sentimental and joyful evening in celebration of their musical achievements.”

Some seniors will be accompanied by underclassmen, who have shared years with them in the high school’s music wing. All preparations and decisions for this event have been made by the performing seniors, though faculty members from the Rockport schools have advised them along the way.

“They have devoted much time and effort in an exceptionally busy time of year to play alongside the performing seniors,” said Cohen.

Senior Ali Steer said she is excited about this senior recital because each student gets to share with the audience what they are interested in musically.

“I could not be more thankful to have been part of such an amazing program in this little school,” said fellow senior Jeff Cloak. “I think my memories here will be epitomized in this last performance together with all of my classmates.”

Cohen thanked Rockport Music for use of its new performance hall and support of the students.

“Rockport Music has generously provided young musicians and students with opportunities to perform school concerts in the world-class Shalin Liu Performance Center,” said Cohen. “The current seniors and faculty are inexpressibly grateful to have had these years under their roof, and the underclassmen will likely continue to feel the same.”
