Taking on roles

Children take part in acting workshops

An Oscar nominee will give some young thespians acting tips this summer.

Cape Ann resident Lindsay Crouse, nominated for an Academy Award for her role in “Places in the Heart,” will be one of the guest teachers for the latest session of youth acting workshops at Gloucester Stage.

The new summer session begins today, July 12. The six-week program for children ages 6 to 18 is taught by Gloucester actress Heidi Dallin. Besides Crouse, it includes guest teaching collaborations with Mary Saunders, on voice faculty at Boston Conservatory; and Israel Horovitz, Gloucester Stage’s artistic director emeritus and one of America’s most prolific playwrights

Reduced tuition is available. The workshops are two hours. Class size is limited. For information and to register, call 978-283-6688.
