'Paint it Blue' for Fly Amero's new CD

Gloucester's Fly Amero celebrates the release of his latest CD, "Paint it Blue," at a benefit concert tomorrow at the historic Universalist Unitarian Church on Middle Street in Gloucester.

"With all that history, there is also a dire need for restoration and maintenance money for the church, which is part of the Gloucester skyline," Amero said. "Plus, the place simply has the best darn acoustics on Cape Ann.

"My ultimate dream would be for the balcony to be restored to the point we could fill the place. So, I decided to ... see if we can't do our little part to help out."

Amero, who is also a member of the pop band Orleans, will highlight tracks from his newly released "Paint it Blue," which features songs recorded live at One World Coffee House in Essex, the Rhumbline in Gloucester and the Egg Center for the Performing Arts in Albany, N.Y.

Doors open at 6 p.m. for the 6:45 concert. A reception will follow upstairs at the Rhumbline and will feature an unedited screening of Amero's newly released "Mall Cop" video.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. They are on sale at Gloucester Music at 210 Main St. in Gloucester or by calling 978-281-4874. Half the proceeds from the concert will benefit the church.
