Comics, fans lining up for Rotary comedy show

A limited number of tickets are still available for The Rotary Club of Gloucester's second annual comedy show set for next Thursday, Aug. 28., at Cruiseport.

The show features comedians Mary Beth Cowan, Paul Nardizzi, Dave Rattigan and Tony V.

Cowan became known to national audiences for her appearances during the Boston segment of the first season of NBC's "Last Comic Standing." One of the busiest comedians in Boston, she charms audiences with her disarming personality and then slays them with her dry wit. She performed on a mini-tour of Ireland in 2005 as part of the "Boston Tee-Hee Party."

Nardizzi's rapid-fire style and sarcastic bent on life in the suburbs has helped him become one of the country's top comedians. He headlines his own weekly show at Boston's Comedy Connection and is one of the area's most in-demand comedians. He's also made appearances on NBC's "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and Fox Sports' "Best Damn Sports Show Period."

Rattigan performs at top comedy clubs and many theatres in New England. His "Dave Rattigan: Thinks He's Funny" CD has received airplay on XM Satellite Radio and other radio stations. In addition to performing, he runs Scamps Comedy Productions (www.ScampsComedy.com), which produces comedy fundraisers as well as shows for theaters and restaurants. He also pens the humor column, "Perfect Man," for NorthShore Magazine.

Tony V is one of Boston's busiest and best comedians, who this year reprised his role on the Showtime television series The Brotherhood, returned as host of WEEI's "Whiney Awards," and is again booked to perform at the Wang Center as part of Boston's First Night celebration. Among dozens of television and film appearances are spots on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," "Seinfeld," and performances on Comedy Central, HBO, A&E, and MTV.

Tickets are priced at $25 and may be purchased at the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce building on Commercial Street, or by contacting Ruth Pino at (978)-283-8600 or rpino@carlsonre.com.
