High stepping

The last names of some performers may not have sounded a bit Irish — Gallo, Stavros, Lai — but these young students were stepping high enough to be in “Riverdance.”

The theatrical version of “Riverdance” is the show that put Irish step dancing on the map in mid-’90s, but recently it was young students of the Bremer School of Irish Dance who brought the dance form to a small crowd at the Magnolia Library Center in Gloucester.

The Bremer School of Irish Dance in Salem offers classes in step dancing for children age 5 and older at the Magnolia Library every Wednesday afternoon from 3:30 to 6:30. The classes are taught by Jacqueline Dalton of Manchester, who is a native of Ireland.

Bremer students have performed halftime shows during Celtics games, as well as at the world championship for step dancing in Belfast, Ireland.
