Town Talk: Deadlines loom for Manchester elections

Manchester's town elections are a month away, but some important deadlines are fast approaching.

If you live in Manchester and are not yet registered to vote, you have only until Wednesday, April 25, at 8 p.m. to do so, and the town clerk's office will be open that night to accommodate any last-minute applicants.

Otherwise, the clerk's office welcomes new voter registration Mondays through Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m, and on Thursdays until 8. The office is closed this Monday, however, in honor of Patriots Day.

Mail-in registration forms must be postmarked by the April 25 deadline, according to the town's Board of Registrars. The town elections are May 17.

Manchester officers' meet and greet

Most folks may not, under normal conditions, want to visi the town's police station. But that will change for a special program planned for April 21, a week from today.

The event is a virtual open house, with police Chief Glenn McKiel and the town's officers welcoming residents to a "meet and greet" with the Manchester Police Department's officers from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the station, located at 10 Central St.

All officers and members of the department will be on hand, and residents are encouraged to meet the officers, check out the department's vehicles and other equipment — and enjoy some refreshments!
